Edward Seymour Goes to Reward

Episcopal Clergyman more than Half Century

Dies at Residence of Daughter, Mrs. W. H. Collins, in Portage - Interment at Newberry, Mich-Served Long and Well as Missionary in Upper Michigan Peninsula.

Rev. Edward Seymour died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W. H. Collins, 505 W Cook at 6:45 Thursday morning of pneumonia.

He was 77 years old on the 4th of May and was ordained to the Episcopal ministry fifty-two years aga at Nashotah. Wis. He was a graduate of Trinity college, Hartford, Conn., and the Theological Seminary at Nashotah.

Mr. Seymour took up the labor????missionary in the northern p???of Michigan, having his head???at Ontonagon. For years he pe???his Master's work, laboring am??early settlers, and was ???forced to endure??? the region at the???unbroken wildernes????????.

Mr. Seymour, a learned and cultured gentleman, was one of the most approachable of men, to whom one could go for a word of advice. With a pleasant word and kindly nod for everyone, his daily life spoke far more eloquently than the most profound sermon ever delivered from the pulpit. Mr Seymour was rector of Christ church, Carl??? 1893-1903. the rest of his ??? was spent in Northern Michigan??? Ohio, his last charge being at Newberry, Mich, where the body will be taken for burial.

Mr. Seymour is survived by his wife, Martha A., Portage, Wis., four sons and three daughters. They are: F. S. Seymour, Newberry, Mich.; E. B. Seymour, Philadelphia; R. F. Seymour, Detroit; C. B. Seymour, Mendota, Wis.; Miss Kate, Lone Tree, Iowa; Mrs. Schuler, Mound City, ILL.; Mrs. W. H. Collins, Portage.

Short services will be held at 505 West Cook Street Friday at 2:30 p. m.
