Raymond "Lee" Malody, longtime Casper resident, passed away on December 30, 2015. Lee was born on December 19, 1929 in Cheyenne and spent his childhood in Laramie. After graduating from Laramie High School, he enlisted in the US Marine Corps. His service included time in Tsingtao China, Guam, Pearl Harbor and Paris Island, South Carolina. Upon completion of his service, he enrolled at the University of Wyoming where he met and married Dolly Laycock. They were married for more than 57 years until she preceded him in death in 2012. Lee went on to graduate from the University of Wyoming in 1956 with a degree in Music Education.

Lee taught his first few years in Bosler and Gillette until he accepted a position in 1959 with the Natrona County School District in Casper. He earned his Master's Degree in Secondary Education in 1965 and transitioned into secondary school administration. He taught or served as vice principal at East, CY and Dean Morgan Jr. High Schools and was the first music teacher (choir and band) at Kelly Walsh High School when it opened. Lee retired from teaching in 1988 but remained active in music as a performer with the Casper Municipal Band, the Metropolitan Brass Quintet, and the Leo Malsom Quartet as well as many other groups in Casper. When Lee and Dolly decided to spend their winters in Mesa, Arizona, he also found a new home with a host of bands & other groups in the area. Lee also composed music for concert bands. The Casper Municipal Band still regularly performs some of his marches.

Lee was active in many organizations in Casper including Natrona County Masonic Lodge #51, Classroom Teachers Association, Casper Consistory Club, Scottish Rite and the Shrine Club. He was an avid golfer and longtime member at the Casper Municipal Golf Club where he spent his summers either working as course ranger or strolling the fairways in search of the ever elusive perfect swing.

Lee is survived by his children; Carol (Bill) Larson of Evanston, WY, Dale (Lorie) Malody of Edmond, OK, Lisa Malody (Larry DeBoer) of Billings, MT, Becky (Andy) Carroll of Billings, MT and Linda Henderson (Dean Norman) of Casper, along with nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Bill (Charlotte) Laycock of Laramie and many nieces and nephews.
