MARY ALICE BARBER Sept. 4, 1923 - April 9, 2009 Mary Alice Barber, 85, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 9, 2009, at Country Villa of Novato, Novato, CA. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at the Berean Baptist Church, 10250 North Freeway, Houston, Texas on May 2, 2009 at 2:00 PM with the Rev. Lester Hudson officiating. Born on September 4, 1923, in LaSalle, Colorado, she was the only daughter of Ray and Mary Mackey along with four brothers. She married Lyman Barber in August 1944. They were married for 31 years before his death in 1975. Lyman and Mary Alice moved to Houston, Texas in 1950. They were members of the Berean Baptist Church in Houston for over 50 years. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Elise Antoni and David Carter of Novato, CA; her son and daughter-in-law Don and Linda Barber of College Station; granddaughters and their husbands Kylie and Lincoln Sharp of Katy; Karissa and Erik Ma of Phoenix, AZ; Shana and Sancho Martinez of Novato, CA; and five great grandchildren, Athena and AvaMary Martinez, and Zachary, Kinsley and Logan Sharp. The family wishes to thank the staff members and nurses of Country Villa of Novato, CA, and Hospice of Petaluma, CA, who helped make her comfortable and happy during her last years. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for any donations to be sent to the Berean Baptist Church, 10250 North Freeway, Houston, TX, 77037 or Hospice of Petaluma, CA, 416 Payran Street, Petaluma, CA, 94952.
