BLANTON - John William Blanton of 1043 East 23rd Ave. passed away Sunday, Oct. 17, 1954, at the age of 71. He was born near Salem, Ore., the son of Isaac and Rebecca Blanton. He came to Eugene at an early age. Married Mary E. Waite, June 22, 1910, in Eugene. Mr. Blanton had been an employe of Southern Pacific and Oregon Electric Railroads for many years. He retired in 1953. He was a member of the Christian Church, the Royal Order of Moose No. 686, the Royal Neighbors and had been a member of the Modern Woodmen for over 45 years. He is survived by his wife, and the following brothers and sisters: Effie Briggs, Frank Blanton, I. M. Blanton, Nora Wray and Marian Blanton, all of Eugene, Nellie Huff and George Blanton of Portland, Addie Griffin of Mt. Hood; 1 aunt, Mrs. Flora Beasen of Coburg; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Oct. 19, 1954, at 3:30 p.m. in the Veatch Hollingsworth England Funeral Home, Dr. Carroll C. Roberts officiating, and interment in the Mulkey Cemetery. ~~~END~~~
