Susannah Upp was born in Macomb, Illinois, Apr. 22, 1854 and departed this life at her home southeast of Mendon, Dec. 19, 1931, aged 77 years, 7 months and 27 days. She was married to Thomas Jefferson Billups in 1873, who passed away Jan. 12, 1925. To this union were born ten children, five of whom survive- Mrs. Maggie McKane, Mrs. George Rohwedder, Roy Billups, all of Mendon, Robert Billups of Keytesville, and William of Magnolia, Illinois. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held from Mt. Pleasant Church Sunday afternoon conducted by Rev. DeWeese, interment in adjacent cemetery under direction of S.L. Liepard.
