Husband of Laura Luke. Son of Raymond and Lillian (Miller) Schmittel. Father of Jackie (Pacholke) and Allen Schmittel. Jack was a champion midget hydroplane boat racer. He loved hunting and fishing. He liked to ride and race his motorcycle. He worked at TRW in the valve division. He also served in the US Air Force.

Services for Jack A. Schmittel, 65 of Eastlake, will be 11 am Wednesday at Davis Fueral Home, 4154 Clark Ave., Willoughby.
Mr. Schmittel died Oct 3, 1998, at University hospital of Cleveland, after complications following a stroke. He was born Jul 30, 1933, in Akron.
Mr. Schmittel was employed by T.R.W. Valve-Division as a machine operator for 38 years. In retirement he was a proficient and versatile handyman.
He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War as a Staff Sergeant.
Mr. Schmittel enjoyed hunting, fishing and boat and motorcycle competition.
Survivors are his loved wife, Laura (Luke), daughter, Jackie (Vern) Pacholke of Eastlake, son, Allen (Paula) Schmittel of Mentor and endeared grandchildren: Stacy, Rachel, Kelsey and Drew Pacholke, Michael, Joseph and Katie Schmittel.
His parents Raymond and Lillian (Miller) Schmittel of Eastlake are deceased.
Friends may call 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm Thursday at the Davis Funeral Home. Pastors Gary Coiro and Brad Winkler of Willo-Hill Baptist Church in Willoughby will officiate services. Burial will be in Western Reserve Memorial Gardens, Chester Township.
