Hurley Andrew Akers, age 83, of Wytheville, Virginia, away Monday, November 23, 2015. He was born March 1, 1932, to the late William Alonza and Jess Nuckols Akers. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years Cordie Josephine Dunford Akers. He was a member of the Rosenbaum Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church.


Survivors include his five children and spouses, Wayne Akers of Ivanhoe; Sue and John Pascal of Wytheville; Robert and Sylvia Akers of Ivanhoe; James and Rhonda Akers of Rural Retreat; David and Tammy Akers of Speedwell; brother Roby Akers of TN; sister, Betty and Junior Thompson of the Mule Hell Community; 14 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.


Funeral services were held at 6:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 25, 2015, at the Rosenbaum Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church with Pastor Brandon Hughes and Reverend Jim Moran officiating. The family received friends Wednesday from 5:00 P.M. until service time at the church. In lieu of flowers the family wishes for contributions to be made to Hospice of Southwest Virginia.
