William R. Weiss, of Pine River, passed away on Nov. 22, 2015, at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Gerald Leverington, at the age of 95. Services will be 11 AM on Tuesday, Dec. 1, at First Lutheran Church, Pine River. Visitation will be Monday from 5 to 8 PM at Kline Funeral Home, Pine River, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.

William was born on Feb. 14, 1920, to Lambert and Augustina (Westphal) Weiss in Bungo Township, Pine River, MN. He attended Bark School and graduated eighth grade. He enlisted in the Navy in 1942 serving stateside and one year in the South Pacific. On June 9, 1942, he married Marlys Hoefs. In 1944 he was honorably discharged and started his career as a carpenter. In 1951 they bought a dairy farm southwest of Pine River where they farmed for many years before returning to the construction world where he worked on many churches in Minnesota, Wisconsin and the Dakotas. He served on the Land O' Lakes Dairy Board, Maple Hill Lutheran Church Board and loved helping others. At 80 years of age he enjoyed helping his grandson build his log home.

William is survived by his wife of 72 years, Marlys; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Gerald Leverington of Wadena; grandchildren: Karla Guldseth (Rich) of Wadena, Dean Leverington (Deb) of Pine River, Janell Madison (Steve) of Brainerd; great grandchildren: Krista and Jordan Guldseth, Wyatt and Morgan Leverington, Grant and Calvin Madison; step great granddaughter, Ashley Ebel; sister, Edna Juvenal; 6 sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 6 sisters and 9 brothers.
