Mrs. Dorothea Kane Smith, 58, of Greentown R.1, Pike County, died Monday in Pocono Hospital, East Stroudsburg. She was the widow of Frederick S. Smith and Allen Kane.
She was a psychiatric aide at Allentown State Hospital for 15 years before retiring in 1968.
Born in Kresgeville, she was a daughter of Mary (Andrews) Serfass of Slatington and the late Absalom Serfass.
Surviving with her mother are four sons, Allen and Ronald Kane, both of Greentown R.1, LeRoy Kane of Salisbury, Mass., and Thomas Kane of Portsmith, N.H.; a daughter Marie, wife of Raymond Kistler of Slatington R.3; two brothers, LeRoy and James, both of Slatington; three sisters, Claire, wife of Clinton Craig, Darlene, wife of Luther Musselman, and Barbara, wife of Millard Howell, all of Slatington; three stepsons, Stanley and David Smith, both of Catasauqua, and William Smith, address unknown; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Barbara Weiss of Catasauqua, and June, wife of Renaldo Rodrigues of New York City, and 15 grandchildren.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in the Fox Funeral Home, 1002 Main St., Slatington. Calling hours will be 7-8:30 Wednesday.
