US Congressman. He served in the United States House of Representatives from 1877 to 1879 as a representative from Oregon. Williams received his formal education from Willamette University in Salem, Oregon graduating with a degree in law. He was admitted to Oregon State Bar in 1857 and began his legal practice in Kirbyville Oregon before moving to Portland. Following his service in Congress he established a legal practice in Portland and also served as a member of the Portland School Board from 1890 to 1910. (bio by: Nils M. Solsvik Jr.)
