Richard D. "Rick" McCone 59, of West Burlington, Iowa, formerly of Galesburg, died at 9 a.m. Sunday, November 15, 2015 at the University of Iowa Medical Center in Iowa City, Iowa.
He was born March 15, 1956, in Galesburg, the son of Richard D. and E. Joyce (Searles) McCone Sr. He married Susan Allen Reeves on June 20, 1987 in Knoxville.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Susan and his parents, Dick and Joyce McCone of Galesburg.
Rick was raised and educated in Galesburg, graduating from Galesburg High School in 1974. He worked in various capacities, including the railroad, as a warehouse worker, and as a bartender. He had lived in the Burlington area since 2000.
Rick was an avid Green Bay Packers and St. Louis Cardinals fan. He loved music and as a “lefty”, mastered playing a right handed guitar upside down. Rick was a lover of animals, especially his beloved Boston Terriers.
Cremation will be accorded. Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Rev. Jim Ecklund will officiate. There will be no visitation. Entombment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Rick’s name may be made to the humane society of the donor’s choice. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
