Dora is survived by her husband of 65 years, Raymond; children, Alan (Debby), David (Jan) and Sandra; grandchildren, Ember, Erik (Charis), Kevin (Brooke), Steven (Angelene), Jerry (Terri) and eight great-grandchildren, of Colorado and Washington.
Serving as a military wife for 20 years, Dora followed her husband around the world. As a wonderful mother she served as Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader for her children.
Working for the St. Vrain Valley School District for 22 years, including 17 years as a school bus driver, Dora enjoyed seeing not only the children that rode her bus but later their children and grandchildren. After retiring she befriended and assisted the elderly and disabled while driving for Boulder Special Transit and Meals on Wheels.
In 2013 Dora and Ray were displaced from their home of nearly 50 years by the Lyons flood and moved to Longmont.
Dora enjoyed her membership in the Golden Gang (Lyons Senior Group), the Mile High Jeep Club, Patrol 11 in Longmont, Colorado and she took pride in her heritage as a Daughter of the American Revolution. Other hobbies included painting, gardening, camping, sewing and knitting, as well as being “G ma” (her favored title) watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren play.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lyons Flood Relief, Daughters of the American Revolution (Namaqua Chapter) and the Wounded Warrior Project.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at the Howe Mortuary Chapel. A reception will follow the services.
