US Congressman. One of the founders of the Republican Party. He was raised in New York and became an attorney in Michigan in 1838. Beaman was Mayor of Adrian in 1856 and Lenawee Probate Judge from 1856 to 1860. In 1860 he was elected to the first of five terms in the US House, serving from 1861 to 1871.
