Our Friend Francis Rawle departed this life June ye 7th 1761, and was buried ye 8th. He received a Gunshot wound at Point in his left arm, which was ye cause of his death. [Duel?].

He might be buried in the Friends Arch Street Meeting burial grounds. The Quaker Meeting death record just says "Arch Street". He was the only child of William Rawle (1704-1741) and Margaret Hodge (1715-1729). She may have died giving birth to Francis. Francis was a merchant. One of the Quaker records show him going to London in 1755 for "an act of trade." He married Rebecca Warner in 1756. Their children were Anne (1757-1828), William (1759-1836) and Margaret (1760-1831).
