Professional Football Player. For twelve seasons (1974 to 1985), he played at the linebacker position in the National Football League with the Minnesota Vikings. Along with Matt Blair, McNeill formed a formidable linebacking core with the Vikings which propelled Minnesota to two Super Bowl appearances during the 1970s. Born Frederick Arnold McNeill, he attended Baldwin Park High School and played collegiate football at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA). Selected by Minnesota as the 17th overall pick during the 1st round of the 1974 NFL Draft, he totaled 167 career regular season games. McNeill experienced two Super Bowls (IX in 1976 and XI in 1977) and will be remembered for blocking a Ray Guy punt during the Super Bowl XI contest. After retiring from football, he attained a law degree.
