Pervia V Shelton 94, of Unionvilie, died on Fri. Aug.17, 1984, at Putnam County Memorial Hospital. He had been in failing health for several months.

The son of William Elmer and Laura Z (Yates) Shelton, he was born Feb 19,1890, near Hartford. On Oct 3, 1910, he was married to Florence E Steel who preceded him in death on April 14, 1982. Also preceding him in death were one daughter, Evelyn A Shelton, in February, 1935; one son, Hubert Neal Shelton, in March, 1942; his parents; twin brothers, Roy M Shelton in infancy and Coy M Shelton in 1966; two granddaughters, one great- granddaughter, and one great-grandson.

Surviving are eight children Edwin G. and Louise Shelton of Unionville. Verlan and Barbara Shelton of Kirksville, Donald and Betty Shelton of Creston, Ia , Mrs Jack(Frances) Vestal, Mrs Bobby (Marjorie) Burns, Mrs Roscoe (Carol) Lightfoot, all of Unionville, Mrs Peter (Laura Lou) Moore of Whitter, Calif. and Mrs Jim (Norma) Clubine of Louisville, Ky. Also surviving are 20 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Pervia and Florence spent most of their life on a farm east of Unionville where all of their children were born and raised. He was employed in farming, coal mining, and custom sheep shearing for over 50 years. In 1980, Pervia and Florence celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary, hosted by their children and grandchildren. They enjoyed 71 years together, 55 years on the farm and the last 16 years in Unionville. In 1943, Pervia and Florence gave their life to the Lord and placed their membership in the Hartford Baptist Church. They later transferred to Broadlawn Baptist Church in Unionville.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, Aug 20, 1984, at Broadlawns Funeral Home in Unionville with Dick Bruner officiating. Interment was in Thompson Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Edwin Dean Shelton, Keith Vestal, Rick Shelton, Charles Shelton, Phillip Burns, and Roger Burns. Honorary bearers were Randy Shelton, Donnie Shelton, Duke Moore, Larry Shelton, Delbert Shelton, and Jackie Vestal.
