MUNCIE--William T. (Bill) Conner, 85, former Muncie resident, died Sunday in Henry County Memorial Hospital in New Castle after a long illness.
Mr. Conner was born near Mexico and graduated from Jefferson Township High School. He graduated from Purdue University in 1934. He retired from the Army as a colonel having served in World War II and receiving the Silver Star. He worked at G.M.A.C. and Northside Chevrolet in Indianapolis before moving to Muncie in 1954. He owned and operated Bill Conner Chevrolet for 17 years before retiring. He most recently lived in Mooreland. He was a member of Ball State University Beneficent Society, the Muncie Club, the Exchange Club, the Delaware Country Club, the Birthday Club and the founder of the Junto Club.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Maudames Carroll Conner; two sons, William T. Conner Jr. and James Conner; three daughters, Ann Cox, Jane King and Carroll Spinks; 12 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
A brother is deceased.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. today in Meeks Mortuary. Entombment will be in Elm Ridge Mausoleum with military rites by veterans of Delaware County. Calling will be 2 hours before services today at Meeks Mortuary.
