Doris G. Bivens, age 82, of Friendsville, passed away Thursday, October 29, 2015 at Asbury Place of Maryville. She was an employee of the U.S. Post Office for 43 years serving as the Post Master of the Friendsville Post Office until she retired in 2002. She was the daughter of the late W.C. and Ann Hancox.

She was preceded in death by her husband Boyd Beecher Bivens and her sister Sandra Hancox Fox. Doris is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Boyd Allen "Dickie Bivens of Friendsville, Brad and Michelle Bivens of Hendersonville; daughter and son-in-law Nancy and Wesley Weaver of Friendsville; grandchildren Ashley Weaver and Dale Davis, Tyler and wife Callie Bivens, and Jordan Bivens; great grandson, Robert Kason Davis; brother Bill Hancox of Maryville; and many other family and friends also survive.

A celebration of Doris' life will be held on Monday, November 2, 2015 at 7:00 pm in the West Chapel of Smith Funeral & Cremation Service with Pastor Tyler Bivens officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at Friendsville Friends Quaker Church Cemetery for the interment. The family will receive friends Monday, November 2, 2015 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Smith Funeral & Cremation Service. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Friendsville Friends Quaker Church. www.SmithFuneralandCremation.com
