Mrs.Jim Gwynn Sanders Dies Following A Long Illness: Death today claimed Mrs.Collie Roberta Sanders, member of a well-known family of Forrest City. Mrs.Sanders passed away at the Baptist Hospital in Memphis at 6:30 o'clock this morning following an illness of several months. She was taken to the hospital last week and underwent an operation there the first part of the week. Mrs.Sanders was born at Stony Point, Ark., July 22,1877. Her parents were the late Anna Stevens and Rev.N.B.Fizer. She came to Forrest City when she was a child. Her father was a popular Methodist minister of this city for a number of years. On March 26,1896, she was married to Jim Gwynn Sanders, a former sheriff of St.Francis County, and to this union nine children were born, seven of whom now survive. She was a member of the Baptist Church and a faithful worker in both the missionary circles and the Sunday school. Surviving her are her husband and children:Mrs.Herman Scheiman, Roseville, Calif.; Mrs.G.P.Wood, Nashville, Tenn.; Mrs.W.C. Mosely, Little Rock; Joe Boone Sanders, Tucumcari, N.Mexico; Mrs.O.I.Miller, Midnight, Miss.; and Roy Sanders of this city. One sister, Mrs.Frank Hill, Okmulgee, Okla. Two brothers, Neill Duff Fizer of Montana, and Paul Fizer of Roseville, Calif. and nine grandchildren. Funeral services will be hele tomorrow afternoon at 4:00 o'clock at the Baptist Church with the Rev.Grover C.Prince officiating. Burial will be in City Cemetery.
BIO - In 1885, the St.Francis County Abstract Company was founded Capt. J.G.Stern, a northern man who located in St.Francis County and owned extensive real estate east of St.Francis River. The next owner was N.B.Fizer, lawyer and preacher and father of Mrs.J.G.Sanders. About 1897, Mr.Fizer sold the firm to Mrs. Alice E.Matthews, a sister of John I. Jones and Mrs.A.A.French. both still residents of Forrest City. Mrs.Matthews married S.H.Mann in 1912 and the company was operated by Mr.Mann until his death in 1938. After his death, the company was purchased by Mr.F.F.Harrelson, lawyer and owner of the Title Guaranty and Abstract Company, until 1950 they two companies were operated together until 1950-first by Mr.Harrelson until his death in 1946, and then by F.C.Harrelson and Carroll C.Cannon. In 1950 the firm is owned and operated solely by Mr.Carroll C.Cannon.
