Mary Lee Davis Winger died in Denver on February 28, 2008.

She was born Mary Lee Miedreich on September 8, 1921 in Evansville, Indiana, and she graduated from Evansville College.

She was married to Rev. William Davis, and later, to Paul Winger.

She taught at Cowell and Edison Elementary schools in Denver for 30 years. At the end of her life, she lived with her friend, Anthony Miscia.

She is survived by her sons, Alan Davis and Glen Davis, and by her grandchildren, Allison Davis, Laura Davis, Jennifer Simpson, and Alan Davis. A memorial service will be held on March 8 at 2:00 p.m. at Wheat Ridge Congregation, United Church of Christ. Contributions may be sent to Wheat Ridge Congregation.

Surviving are sons, Alan and Glen Davis; and four grandchildren.

Memorial services 2 p.m. Saturday at Wheat Ridge Congregation, United Church of Christ in Wheat Ridge, Colorado.

Mary Lee was a beautiful woman with coal black hair. She graduated from Bosse High School in Evansville and attended the University of Indiana, first majoring in nursing. She transferred to Evansville College, where she met Bill Davis, and graduated with a BA in education in 1944. She taught third and fourth grade for more than 25 years in Denver, Colorado.
