My father is the son of John Bridges Clement and Tommie Randal. He married Sarah Evelyn Brown on October 30, 1927, in Denton, Texas. They were both public school teachers in Wilson, Oklahoma at the time of their marriage.

Farewell Courtesies Held In Honor of Two Couples To Make Homes In Other Cities
Society is saying a reluctant farewell to two delightful Ardmore couples who are leaving this month to establish homes in other cities.
The departure of Mr. and Mrs. Harold H. Hughs for Minneapolis, Minn. and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Clement, who go March 15 to Enid, where Mr. Clement becomes scout executive of the Great Salt Plains area of Boy Scouts, has been the signal for several charming parties, adding brightness to the lenten season which has subdued the social world to a marked degree.

Longtime Scout Executive Dead
After joining a boy scout troop in 1913, at McAlester, Joseph (Joe) Clement spent practically the rest of his life in scouting. Mr. Clement died Monday in Grady Memorial Hospital. Funeral service for Mr. Clement will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First Prebyterian Church with Dr. Charles Cobden, pastor, officiating.
Mr. Clement was born December 20, 1901, in Morgan, Texas. He was married October 30, 1927, in Denton, Texas, to the former Sarah Evelyn Brown. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and had served in the Oklahoma National Guard.
While a boy scout at McAlester he attained the rank of Eagle Scout. He became an adult leader in September, 1924, at Ft. Towson and later at Wilson. Before entering scouting as a profession, he was a school teacher, coach and high school principal.
Mr. Clement became district executive (professional Scouter) in June, 1927, at Ardmore. He was council executive in Enid in March 1930, and in 1938 held the same position in Texarkana, Arkansas. In 1942 he came to Chickasha as the Black Beaver Boy Scout Council executive. The council headquarters was moved from Chickasha in 1964 to Lawton and Mr. Clement continued as council executive until he retired on December 31, 1966.
Although Clement retired, he continued to serve in voluntary Scout work as a committeeman.
Clement was the first Scout executive to be awarded (on May 8, 1972) the Silver Beaver Award from Black Beaver Council. This is the highest award a Boy Scout Council can bestow.
Under his leadership, the Black Beaver's Council permanent camping site at George Thomas Scout Reservation near Apache was increased to more than 240 acres. The value of improvements was increased to more than a quarter million dollars.
From January, 1967, to 1973, he served as Chickasha-Grady County Civil Defense Director.
He was a member of the United Presbterian Church, USA, all his adult life. He served as deacon, elder, presbyter and served on Synod committees. He was moderator of the Oklahoma-Arkasas Synod for one term and was one of the few laymen to hold this office.
A member of Rotary International, Mr. Clement served as editor of the paper for the Chickasha club for eight years. He was a member of the Chickasha Chamber of Commerce, the Great Plains Historical Association and was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of Masonic Lodge No. 94.
Mr. Clement was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn, of the home at 1510 South 16th; one daughter, Mrs. Ben (Jo Ann) DeKinder of Chickasha; two sons, J. Randal Clement of Tulsa, and Rev. John Edward Clement of Long Beach California.
