Rachel Arzona Reece Dampf Lay was
born 6 Jun 1879 in Marshall, Searcy
Co., AR. She was the dau. of Samuel
Reece and Mary Ann (Ott) Reece. She
first married Cephas Augustus "Gus"
Dampf. They had one child: Hattie
Mae.

Second she married James Cephus Lay
16 Apr 1899 in Marshall, Searcy Co.,
AR. They were the parents of ten
children:Arvilla, Wm. Samuel; Minnie
Sally; Grady Henry;Floy Ann; Winnie
Faye; Gladys Pearl;Howard S.;
Tillman Gregory and Ivan F.

She died 17 Feb 1984 in Henryetta,
Okmulgee Co., OK at the age of 104
soon to be 105. She is buried next
to James.

Note: It is either an engraver's
error or an error in information
given by the family. The date of
birth on the headstone is 1876
which is incorrect. It is not
possible that Arzona was born in
1878 even though Social Security
has her listed as being born in
1878. Arzona had a sister, Mary
Grace, that according to her
headstone was born in April 1878
and died in 1881. Mary was also
listed on the 1880 census as the
age of two in June of 1880.
