Nora passed away at Fairview Mennonite Home, at the age of 91 years. Predeceased by her husband E. Clare Shantz in 1995. Predeceased by her parents, Menno and Hattie Burkhart; brothers, Melvin Burkhardt, Vernon, Ornan, and Mahlon Burkhart. Nora was a remarkable woman. After being diagnosed with cancer in 1958, and undergoing treatment at Princess Margaret Hospital, she resumed her role as wife and mother taking care of her children and her husband, who became a paraplegic in 1960. She was a life-long member of the Erb Street Mennonite Church in Waterloo. For the past 17 years she resided at Fairview Mennonite Home in Cambridge.
