Son of George Washington Wiles and Mary Ann (Miller) Wiles. First wife was Rachel (Oliver) Wiles, children with Rachel were Loduska "Dusky" (Wiles) Claunts and Isaac "Ike" Houston Wiles. Second wife was Mary Elizabeth (Shockley) Wiles. She is buried with his father, George, in Haw Creek Cem, Scott Co., AR. 10 children from marriage to Mary- Melinda Jane (Wiles) Sturgeon, Maraline Wiles, George Washington Wiles, Riley W. Wiles, Sarah Francis Wiles, Martha E. (Wiles) Hairrell, Jacob Nelson Wiles, Richard Clayton Wiles, James A. Wiles and Thomas W. Wiles.
