Born in Gillett, PA, he was the son of the late Byron Ames Sr. and the late Bertha Batterson Ames.
Bill was predeceased by his loving wife Evelyn and two sisters Nellie Taylor and Wilma Tischer.
He was retired from American LaFrance and Durabuilt.
Survivors include sons, Donald Ames (Jennifer), Gary Ames (Christal), and Kelly Ames; ten grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers in-law, Mary (Ken) Beauman, Dorothy Norton, Betty Austin, Jerry (Beverly) Dickerson, and William (Linda) Dickerson; many nieces and nephews whom he cared for deeply.
The family also wishes to thank Gerald and Linda Lands, who have become family to them, for all they did for both Mom and Dad.
A Memorial service was held August 8, at the Bentley Creek Wesleyan Church. Contributed by Carol Brotzman
