A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, October 16, 2015 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Scott for John H. Arceneaux, 93, who passed away on October 13, 2015.

Reverend Gary Schexnayder, Pastor of St. Elizabeth Seton Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass.

Burial will take place in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery.

John, a resident of Lafayette, was the son of the late Gilbert Arceneaux and the former Eva Newman.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Maysel Arceneaux; children, Steven John Arceneaux and his wife, Angela Marie, Harold Jean Arceneaux and his wife, Janet, Randy Joseph Arceneaux, Jody Paul Arceneaux and his wife, Marion S. and Melodie Gallet and her husband, Phil; grandchildren, Phillip, Stefan, Jason, Cody, Corey, Daniel, Joshua Arceneaux, Crystal Guidry, Jacob and Danni Gallet; twelve great grandchildren; and two sisters, Iris Cormier and Barbara Larriviere.

He was preceded in death by parents, son, Daniel James Arceneaux, a great granddaughter, Ava and two brothers, Nelson and Eric Arceneaux.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home - Scott on Thursday, October 15, 2015 from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM. A Rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM in the funeral home. Visiting hours will continue on Friday from 8:00 AM until the time of service.

Pallbearers will be his sons, son in law and a grandson. Honorary Pallbearers will be his grandchildren.

John was a U. S. Army World War II veteran and a member of VFW Post 9822, Judice; Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree and a parishioner of Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Scott. He owned Cajun Cone Restaurant for 30 years and was a resident of Scott for the past 66 years. While serving in the military he was in the Airborne Engineers stationed in New Zealand and Australia. He was part of three invasions in New Guinea, Philippines and Okinawa. He was present when the Japanese surrendered in Yokohama, Japan and viewed the dropping of the Atomic Bomb. He received an Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with three Bronze Stars and a Philippine Liberation Ribbon.

John was a very hospitable man who enjoyed his family and friends as well as trips to the Casino. He will be remembered as a kind, generous, determined and loving person. He will never be forgotten.
