In the early morning hours of Tuesday, April 19, 2005, the Lord reached down to Ralph Kingma and said, "My child come home", and Ralph went to his eternal reward.
The son of Ype and Anna (VanderBye) Kingma, Ralph was born in Columbus, Montana on October 31, 1924 and moved to the Lynden area with his family at the age of 7. He attended Lynden High School and was married to Elaine Stuurmans in 1943. Following their divorce, he was married to Mickey Heys in Lynden on September 30, 1974.
For a number of years Ralph was employed at VanderGriend Lumber in Lynden and in 1969 purchased Lynden Glass Company which he owned and operated until his retirement in 1984.
Ralph was a member of the First Reformed Church and enjoyed playing golf. He was also a member of the Bellingham Golf & Country Club, a charter member of the Lynden Breakfast Kiwanis and also for a number of years the Nooksack Valley Riders.
He was preceded by a sister, Sylvia Madej.
Visitation hours will be from 1 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, April 21, at Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden.
Graveside services were conducted at 2:15 p.m. on Friday, April 22, in Monumenta Cemetery followed by funeral services at 3:00 p.m. in the First Reformed Church in Lynden with Rev. Marc deWaard officiating.
Memorials may be made to the Memorial Fund of the First Reformed Church, 610 West Grover St. or the Christian Health Care Center, 855 Aaron Drive, both Lynden, WA. 98264.
