When Donald married Mary Roberta Cline, her father John Paul Cline took Donald in as an apprentice teaching him the skills of a carpenter and cabinet maker. Donald's trade grew. In 1959 he moved his family to Dayton, Ohio where he continued building his construction skills. In the 1970s Donald relocated to Sarasota, Florida where he became more involved in commercial construction, building condominiums, shopping centers and office buildings there.
