BLUEFIELD — Cavie June Stevens, 85, of 2409 Bland Road Bluefield, W.Va. died Wednesday August 6, 2008 at the Richfield Nursing Center, Salem, Va. following a lengthy illness.

Born in War, W.Va. March 5, 1923 she was a daughter of the late John T. Linkous and Carrie Witt Linkous. She was a homemaker and a private music instructor and was a member of the First Christian Church of Bluefield where she was also a member of the Church Circle. As the wife of the General Manager of the Pocahontas Region, Norfolk & Western Railroad Company, the family moved frequently, and lived in St. Louis, Mo., Cleveland, Ohio, Roanoke, Va. and Bluefield. She was a member of The Red Hat Society at Richfield Retirement Center and a former member of Bluefield Country Club.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Wilford C. Stevens; and a brother, Cecil Linkous.

She is survived by two sons, Wilford C. Stevens, Jr. and his wife Rita of Cincinnati, Ohio and Dr. Robert R. Stevens and his wife Emma of Bluefield; a sister, Virginia Rinehart of Elkins, W.Va.; grandchildren, Wilford C. Stevens, III and his wife Pamela of Morgantown, W.Va., Melissa Stevens of Cincinnati, Ohio, Wilford C. Stevens, II and his wife Gina of Dearborn, Mich., and Ensign Robert R. Stevens, Jr., U.S. Navy stationed at San Diego, Calif.; great-grandchildren, Isabella Stevens of Morgantown, W.Va., Samantha and Katherine Stevens both of Dearborn, Mich.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday August 12, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the chapel of Mercer Funeral Home & Crematory of Bluefield with the Rev. Larry Ramey officiating. Interment will follow at Monte Vista Park Cemetery at Green Valley where friends and family members will serve as pallbearers.
