Charles Wilmer (Bill) Garlick was born August 8, 1890, at Indian Lake, near Russells Point, Logan County, Ohio, to Charles Edward and Martha Alice (Archer) Garlick. He was one of five children. The Garlick family moved from Ohio in the late 1890s or early 1900s by covered wagon settling near Sapulpa, Creek County, Oklahoma.
Bill Garlick married Edna Ruth Buzza of Preston, Oklahoma, on December 1, 1919. Bill and Edna have one daughter, Marjorie, and Edna has a son, William Ferguson by a previous marriage – Mr. Garlick's stepson.
Bill worked in the Oklahoma oil fields before serving in World War I (1914-1918). After the war, he moved to Preston, Okmulgee County, Oklahoma. By 1939, Bill and Edna had moved to Angola, Labette County, Kansas, where he was foreman of the Jensen Ranch, retiring from this job in 1955. After his retirement, they moved to Coffeyville, Montgomery County, Kansas.
Charles Wilmer "Bill" Garlick, 83, died January 7, 1974, in Coffeyville, Montgomery County, Kansas. Funeral services were held and burial was in Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Coffeyville, under the direction of Skinner-Hamlin-Murdock Funeral Home.
