Pee Wee's mother passed away at this birth and he was raised in Oak Grove, Arkansas, by various aunts and uncles. He attended school at Oak Grove Grade School and Green Forest High School, and spent many days playing hookey. Pee Wee made his way to Kansas at the age of 13, He worked as a farm laborer for various individuals until he was drafted into the United States Army in 1957. Pee Wee took his training in Lawton, Oklahoma, then served a year in Germany. He was a member of the Red Stone Missile Unit. Pee Wee obtained his GED while he was in the service. He was honorably discharged in March of 1964.
On August 30, 1958, he was united in marriage to Patricia Hanna in Lawton, Oklahoma. They lived in Gove County most of their married life. The last eight years he worked hauling silage. PeeWee enjoyed farming, hunting and fishing. He also liked to attended his Army reunions and to catch up with old friends. Pee Wee particularly enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Pee Wee was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Ellis Chapin.
Survivors include his wife, Pat; children Kirk and wife, Deb Chapin, of Hays, Kent and his wife, Paula Chapin, of Gove, and Kim and her husband Curtis Tichenor, of Branson, Colorado; six grandchildren, Ashley, MaKayla, and Cody Tichenor of Branson Colorado, Eidree Chapin of Gove, Tyle and Tanner Chapin of Hays; sisters Marie and her husband, Dean Hand of Pasdena, Texas, and Veta and her husband, Don Pruett of Slendora, Texas; half-brothers Mac and Jimmy Ray Chapin of Arkansas, and half sisters Nora Lou and RoseMary Chapin, also of Arkansas; and many nieces and nephews.
Pee Wee will be lovingly remembered by his family and friends for many years to come.
