Teacher by nature, she instilled a love of learning in her children. Mealtime was a time for political discussions and history lesson. Children grew up learning the stories of their pioneer ancestors. Excellence and achievement were emphasized. Being baptized in Camas Creek July 1, 1916, she faithfully fulfilled her responsibilities throughout her life for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in Relief Society, Young Women's and Primary organizations.
Professional educator. Obtained teaching credentials at Ricks College. Taught at Idmon School in Camas Meadows, Clark County and at Annex School in Weiser for ten years, retiring in 1970. Enjoyed a winter home in Apache Junction, Arizona. Lived in Sugar City, Camas Meadows, Spencer, Emmett, Weiser, Idaho and Orem, Utah.
Survived by children: Howard Kay (Jean), Brent (Rosemarie), Marcia (George) Bennet, Clinton (Cynthia), and Gwen (Joseph) Miner; 22 grandchildren and 43 great grandchildren; brothers: Luther and Wesley. Predeceased by sons John Lloyd, who passed away at age 7 in Emmett and William Pat, who passed away at age 27 in Portland.
