MORAVIA - Gerald P. Beebee, 92, of Moravia, passed away Sunday, Aug. 14, 2016 at the Cayuga Medical Center in Ithaca.
Mr. Beebee was born Nov. 30, 1923 in Venice, a son of the late David and Florence (Mosher) Beebee and was a graduate of Sherwood School. A life-long southern Cayuga County resident, Gerald was employed as a herdsman for Platt Farms in Venice, and later for the Donald Lane Farm in Locke. In earlier years, he had been employed with the Atwater Feed Co. in Locke, and also by the Bennett Feed Co. in Scipio. Gerald enjoyed woodworking as a hobby.
He is survived by his six children, Douglas Beebee, of Scipio, Donald (Jerri) Beebee, of Scipio, Diane (Robert) Hooper, of Locke, Beth (Douglas) Burgman, of Genoa, Bette Caza, of Cortland, and David Beebee, of Moravia; 18 grandchildren, and 32 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Elizabeth E. "Betty" (Becker) Beebee on Oct. 4, 2013; by a daughter, Barbara L. Beebee in 2014; by a great-grandson, Levon William, and by his brother, Harley Beebee.
A private graveside service will be held in Baker Cemetery, Moravia. A celebration of life gathering will be held beginning at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20 at the Locke Fire Department community hall.
