Died on September, 21, 2015 at a local nursing home. She was born October 4, 1921 in Shelby, NE, the daughter of the late John and Martha Zimmerman Jaax. Mrs. Stewart was as a 2nd Lt with the US Army serving as a nurse during WWII. After her discharge she married Phillip O. Stewart on November 13, 1946. He died on May 28, 2010. Mrs. Stewart was a volunteer with Blue Ridge Hospice. She also was an active member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church serving as an eucharistic minister and was a member of the SFO.

She is survived by three children, Paul E. Stewart of Del Ray Beach, FL, Ann Marie Hamilton of Mt. Jackson, VA and John P. Stewart and his wife, Deborah of Sterling, VA; nine grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Jean Stewart and two sisters, Midge Ward and Doris Engler.

VISITATION will be held Monday evening September 28, 2015 from 7-9pm at Jones Funeral Home.

A MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at 10am with Rev. Stanley J. Krempa and Rev. Skip Negley officiating. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. Pallbearers will be David Cram, Gregory Flynn, Bryton Kolb, Tim Kolb, Shaun Cram and Noah Abbott. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 W. Cork Street, Winchester, VA, 22601.
