David, the son of Jack Benjamin Eisenbraun and Maureen Vahey Eisenbraun of Youngstown Ohio enlisted in the US Navy on November 3, 1966 in Cleveland Ohio. In Vietnam he was assigned as a Medical Corpsman to the First platoon,Company A, 5th Reconnaissance Battalion. The platoon was attached to H&S Company, BLT (Battalion Landing Team) 2/26, 9th MAB, FMFPac.

Upon completion of Operation SWIFT PURSUIT under the Operational control of the 3d Marines, the BLT was placed under the operational control of the 9th Marines and began to participate in Operation LANCASTER II THORNSDALE NORTH in northern Quang Tri Province.

ON September 13 the Alpha Command group, infantry Companies and attachments were transported to Landing Zone Margo in the mountainous area 17 kilometers northwest of Camp J.J. Carroll. The forward Command Post at LZ Margo was hit with several barrages of 60mm and 82mm rounds of mortar fire September 17 then a ground probe by the NVA. During the attack by the enemy one Marine was killed in action and thirteen were wounded. HN David Eisenbraun was one of the casualties, he was killed in action by the hostile mortar fire.
