| Birth: | Mar. 12, 1911 | | Death: | Mar. 29, 1971 | Actress, Singer. Charming, versatile star of Hungarian films and theatre. She enjoyed her greatest popularity in the late 1930s and early 1940s in frothy comedies and musicals. Equally skilled in straight drama, she later settled into sturdy character parts. Kiss appeared in nearly 100 films, including "Cafe Moscow" (1936), "The Storm" (1951), "Merry-Go-Round" (1956), "Professor Hannibal" (1956), "Yesterday" (1959), "Hary Janos" (1965), and "Summer of Old Times" (1969). Kiss was born in Zagon, Hungary, and made her stage debut at 15. Much of her early career was spent singing operetta in Budapest. She was a member of the Madach Theatre company from 1954 until her death. Kiss received many of her country's top honors, including the Jaszai Award in 1954 and the Kossuth Award in 1957.
