"APPALY, OSCAR.—Age, 19 years. Enlisted, April 26, 1861, at Troy; mustered in as musician, Co. K, May 14, 1861, to serve two years; discharged for disability, July 5, 1861, at Camp Hamilton, Va."

Troy Burial Records show parents as F & L Appaly, his age as 22 years, 9 months, 7 days. Born in Prussia, worked as a cigar maker, died of typhoid fever.

"The graves of the deceased soldiers were marked yesterday by a committee appointed for that purpose. The following soldiers' graves, heretofore overlooked, were yesterday marked: [...] New Mt. Ida—Oscar Apperly [sic]"
