He was a relief pitcher in eighteen seasons for the Milwaukee Braves, Houston Astros, Cleveland Indians, Boston Red Sox, Chicago White Sox, Detroit Tigers, and San Francisco Giants. He was a member of two World Championship teams (1957 Braves, 1968 Tigers). He was named to the 1958 National League All Star Team. In a career 874 games, McMahon won 90, lost 68 and saved 153 with a 2.96 lifetime ERA. After retiring as a player, McMahon was a coach with several teams. He suffered a fatal heart attack while pitching batting practice for the Dodgers. (bio by: C.S.)
