Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 9, 2006 at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Clay City at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Dillman Cemetery in Sailor Springs. Brother Larry Schnautz will be officiating.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 8, 2006 from 6-8 p.m.
Memorials can be made to the Sailor Springs Christian Church.
Maxine Gray was born October 2, 1927 in Coopers, AL to Mitchell W. and Ethel M. (Dupree) DeVaughn. She married Thomas A. Gray on August 9, 1945. He preceded her in death on December 20, 1993.
She worked as a head cook at Washburne Trade School in Chicago for many years. She also taught cooking school for the Chicago Board of Education. She was a member of Sailor Springs Christian Church. Maxine enjoyed cooking, reading, and sewing.
Survivors include: sons, Edward E. Gray and wife Linda of Sailor Springs, Watson A. Gray and wife Gertrude of Danville, Ronald W. Gray and wife Nancy of Sailor Springs; daughters, Rose D. Clark of Pekin, Mary Arbeiter of Cedar Rapids, IA, Nancy Gray of Dwight; brother, Andy DeVaughn and wife Ruth of Flora, Betty Shefka and husband Marty of Xenia; 17 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by parents, husband and two sons.
