Sylvia R. Hodgeman BENNINGTON, VT Sylvia Rose Hodgeman, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend was received into the arms of her savior, on Friday, May 31st. She was a graduate of Zion Bible Institute, a certified nurse's aide, a local businesswoman and a lifelong supporter of global mission efforts. Sylvia and her husband, the Rev. Jack Hodgeman, were instrumental in building and supporting several churches in Vermont and New York. She was on the Board of Directors of the Petersburg Assembly of God. Sylvia loved people, especially the troubled or disadvantaged, the young and the old, inviting many into her home and integrating them into her family, eventually resulting in the creation of several community care homes, the latest being the Hodgeman Adult Home in 1967. She was a loving and energetic woman, who worked long hours but was never too busy to see a need, stop for a chat or help someone out. Sylvia was inspired to continuously give, share her wealth and wisdom, and to train children for God's service. Mrs. Hodgeman is survived by eight children, 20 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, as well as two siblings.
