(February 17, 1931 - August 22, 2015)
Rev. Jathniel Lloyd Hodgeman, respected pastor, entrepreneur and home builder, was finally called home in the early hours of Saturday, August 22nd, to receive his Victor's Crown from the Lord whom he had loved and served all his life.
Jathniel, known to friends and family simply as "Jack," was born to missionary parents on February 17th, 1931 in East Providence, Rhode Island. He received his ministerial training at Zion Bible Institute in that same city, where he met and married his lifelong love, Sylvia Rose Jelley, who predeceased him in May of 2012.
Rev. Hodgeman assisted in ministry at many New England churches; was associate pastor in Greenfield, MA and Weston, VT; and for more than 12 years was senior pastor of the First Assembly of God church in Proctorsville, VT.
As “a wise Master-Builder” not only spiritually but physically as well, Jathniel built at least sixteen houses, from the ground up, with his own hands – and in the process trained and employed extended family members over the years. He also ran businesses in many fields including painting, printing, radio and TV electronics, Real Estate, chain saws and residential care.
He was predeceased by two daughters, Carol and Betty Jean, and one son Richard.
Service and reception will be held at 1 pm on Saturday 29, 2015 at the Green Mountain Christian Center, 440 Main Street, Bennington, VT.
