(1913 - 1998)

Anton (Murphy) Wergin, age 84, formerly of 1233 S. 31st st., Manitowoc, died Thursday morning, January 15, 1998, at the Manitowoc Health Care Center.

Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, January.17, 1998, at the Pfeffer Funeral Home. Officiating will be Rev. Roman Zbieranski, O.F.M. with burial to follow at St. Mary’s cemetery, Manitowoc.

He was born June 19, 1913, in Manitowoc, the son of the late Anton and Mathilda Andrastek Wergin. He married the former Helen Glomski October 9, 1935, at St. Casimir Church, Northeim. She preceded him in death on August 2, 1957. He was the owner and operator of Murphy’s Tavern in Manitowoc until his retirement in 1978. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, a long-time member of the Manitowoc County Tavern League, and a former member of the Manitowoc Eagles.

Survivor include one daughter and son-in-law, Mary Lou and Jim Rozmarynowski, Manitowoc; four grandchildren, Tony Kramer and his wife, Polly, Susan Jeske and her husband, Donald, Brian Rozmarynowski and Sara Rozmarynowski; three great-grandchildren, Scott and Kevin Jeske, and Ryan Kraemer; one sister, Lucille Hendries, Manitowoc; one brother-in-law, Tony Steeber, Manitowoc; two sisters-in-law, Marcella Schadeberg, Manitowoc, and Louise Wergin, Casco. He is further survived by Josephine Wergin, other relatives and friends. He was also preceded in death by one daughter and son-in-law, Irene and Bucky Kraemer; one brother, John Wergin; and three sisters, Anna Steeber, Katherine Schaefer, and Esther Neff.

Friends may call at the Pfeffer Funeral Home from 9 a.m. Saturday morning until the time of services at 10 a.m. There will be on Friday evening visitation.
