Sylvia Ann Rice Burt, 64, of Hamburg died Monday, July 8, 2002, at the Ashley County Medical Center. A native and lifelong resident of Ashley County and a resident of the Milo community outside Hamburg since 1964, she was a homemaker, a mother and member of the Egypt Missionary Baptist Church were she was known fondly to many simply as "Miz Syl." She was preceded in death by a son, Mitchell Burt, in 1988 and an infant brother, Donald Warren Rice.
Survivors include her husband, Bobby Burt of Hamburg; a son, Bob Burt and wife Yvonne of Milton, FL; two daughters, Tammy Burt Burchfield and husband Randall and Pollyanna Burt of Hamburg; her parents, Walcie and Mable Sharp Rice of Crossett; a sister, Nancy Meziere and husband James of Hamburg; a brother, Ronny Rice and wife Mavis of Ashdown; three grandchildren, Daniel and Mitchell Burt of Milton, FL, and Chris Streeter of Jonesboro; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 10, in the Egypt Missionary Baptist Church with Revs. Farrell Breshears and Dale Crumby officiating. Pallbearers were Ronny Rice, James Meziere, Jim Meziere, Nick Burt, Dale Streeter, Jeff Blankenship and Aaron Davis. Burial followed services at the Egypt Cemetery, directed by Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home of Hamburg.
