Jane Gibson was called Jennie, Jenn or sometimes Jerg by her friends, but was called "Betsie" by her family.
Jane Gibson married Frank Phillips in a double wedding ceremony with her brother, Josiah Gibson, and Marcelene Miller on Thursday afteronoon, 18 FEB 1897, at 5 p.m. in the Methodist Episcopal Church in Creston, Union County, Iowa. The marriages were performed by Rev. A.E. Griffith, pastor of the church, and Frank Philips' maternal grandfather, Rev. Thomas Linch Faucett.
They were the parents of three children:
1) John Gibson Phillips, Sr., husband of Mildred Beattie and later Mary Kate (Black) Hundley. B: 09 DEC 1898 Creston, Iowa D: 17 JAN 1951 Died from a heart attack returning to the United States from Spain aboard the ship, Queen Mary.
2) Mary Francis Phillips [a foster daughter] called "Mary Frank" was the wife of Marcus Low. B: 03 OCT 1913 New York
3) Sara Jane Phillips [a foster daughter] "Jane" was the wife of Frank Begrisch. B: 02 JAN 1915 New York M: 18 FEB 1937 New York City D: 12 SEP 2003 Rye, Westchester County, New York
