Jane Gibson was the daughter of John Ebbert Gibson and Matilda "Tillie" Jane (Martin) Gibson and granddaughter of Josiah Gibson and Elvira Ann (Ebbert) Gibson.
Jane Gibson was called Jennie, Jenn or sometimes Jerg by her friends, but was called "Betsie" by her family.
Jane Gibson married Frank Phillips in a double wedding ceremony with her brother, Josiah Gibson, and Marcelene Miller on Thursday afteronoon, 18 FEB 1897, at 5 p.m. in the Methodist Episcopal Church in Creston, Union County, Iowa. The marriages were performed by Rev. A.E. Griffith, pastor of the church, and Frank Philips' maternal grandfather, Rev. Thomas Linch Faucett.
They were the parents of three children:
1) John Gibson Phillips, Sr., husband of Mildred Beattie and later Mary Kate (Black) Hundley.
