Elwood Otto Craven, 59, of Lawson, died Friday morning at the Ray County Memorial Hospital, following a hospitalization of nine days. He had been in poor health for some time. He was born June 8, 1901 to William Craven and Mahala (Ray) Craven.
He was married to Addie Darnell January 8, 1938 at Carrollton, MO.
He had lived near Lawson most of his life.
He had operated a road grader for Ray county a number of years.
He is survived by his widow of the home, one step-son, Kenneth Gross of Okinawa; and two step-grandchildren also of Okinawa.
Funeral services were held Sunday at the Christian Union church, five miles east of Lawson, with the Rev. William Smith officiating. Interment was in the nearby cemetery there. Jarman funeral home at Lawson was in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were Donnie Nolker, Everett Schmidt, Hubert Schmidt, Louis Borgmier, Elwood Irving, and Jewell Teegarden. Flower girls were Dorothy Nolker, Kathlyn Hill, Norma Bush, Vera Teegarden, Lorraine Irving and Julia Schmidt.
