Funeral services for Mrs. Ethel M. Brooks, 82, of Arbor Manor were held January 18, 1988, at the First Congregational Church, UCC, in Fremont, with Rev. Dr. Norman C. Pavey officiating.

Burial was in Memorial Cemetery.

Ethel Brooks died January 15, 1988, at Arbor Manor.

She was born February 21, 1905, on the family farm in Douglas County, near Elk City, where she grew up.

The former Ethel Frye was married in Council Bluffs October 2, 1923, to Ralph Brooks.

They farmed in the Elk City area until moving to a farm near Arlington in 1939.

They moved to Fremont in 1951, and then in the late 1950's, moved to Ralston. While living in Ralston, Ethel worked for the Omaha Public Power District.

Her husband died in January, 1978.

In 1979, she moved back to Fremont.

She was a member of Fremont's First Congregational Church, UCC, the American Legion Auxiliary of Ralston and Sarepta Chapter No. 48, Order of the Eastern Star, Arlington.

Survivors include two sons, Melvin Brooks of Fremont and Warren Brooks of Norfolk; one daughter, Mrs. Nels (Joyce) Christensen of Tacoma, Washington, 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and two sisters, Irene Gifford of Fremont and Edna Miller of Ralston.

Memorials may be given to the First Congregational Church, UCC.
Ludvigsen Mortuary of Fremont handled the arrangements.
