VERMILION --Sophie Loder, 89, died Thursday, July 20, 2006, at Kingston of Vermilion, following a lengthy illness.

She was born July 14, 1917, in Braddock, Pa., moving to Lorain in her youth and spending her time between Lorain and Amherst.

Mrs. Loder worked on the family farm in Amherst for more than 20 years. She was also employed at Kolson Bicycle in Elyria for 10 years, retiring in 1979.

She was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Lorain, and was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society.

Survivors include son, Joseph J. Loder of Amherst; sisters Cecilia Bailey of Lorain and Ann Kolenda of Amherst; brother, Pete Jasinski of Amherst; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Loder, in 1956; her parents Alexander Jasinski and Louise T. (nee Sienkiewicz) Jasinski; brothers Joe, Edward, Anthony and Victor Jasinski; and sisters Sr. Mary Maxine, sisters of St. Joseph 3rd order of St. Francis, Helen Lasky and Rosemary Adams.

Friends may call Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. at Reidy Scanlan Chambers Funeral Home, 2150 Broadway, Lorain. A rosary service, led by the women of St. Stanislaus Altar and Rosary Society, will be at 3 p.m. A Christian vigil wake service will follow, led by the Rev. David Novak. Closing prayers will be at the funeral home Monday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 2702 Elyria Ave., Lorain, at 10 a.m. The Rev. David Novak, administrator, will officiate. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
