Jesse was the son of Philip King and Mary Wright. He married Catherine Sivey.
As one of the early pioneers of Mercer County, Ohio, Jesse became a prosperous farmer in Blackcreek Township. He built the first jail, constructed of hewed logs. "Its doors were of several thicknesses of plank and the outside was covered with sheet iron."
Jesse served as Justice of the Peace for eighteen years and as a township trustee a number of times.
Jesse and Catherine's children were: William H., Solomon, John, Philip, Henry Harrison, Rebecca E., Franklin and Jesse.
