Leslie Floyd Wilson, 91, died Tuesday, July 25, 2006 in Abilene, Texas. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 28, 2006 at Buffalo Gap Cemetery followed by a noon luncheon in the Family Room at University Church of Christ (UCC). Meet at 9:00 a.m. at UCC (corner of Washington Blvd. and E.N. 16th) to caravan to the cemetery.
Mr. Wilson was born July 20, 1915 in Thurber, Texas to L. F. and Hattie (Woodall) Wilson. He married Oleta Campbell on November 17, 1936 in Lubbock, Texas.
L. F. served in the U.S. Navy Seabees in Rhode Island, England and Ireland during WWII. Mr. Wilson's lifelong career as a welder included work at Boston shipyards, Sojourner Drilling, Paul Carroll, Welch Welding, Pride Refinery, Salta Pipe and Industrial Engine. His welding/working buddies knew him as "Dobber." He lived in Abilene since 1960 and was a member at Fifth and Grape Church of Christ.
Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by an infant son and two sisters, Juanita Harston and Bobbie Lowrance.
Survivors include his spouse Oleta, son J. F. Wilson and wife Lorraine, "son" Charlie Ricketts of San Antonio, TX, brother Howet Wilson of Brownwood, three sisters: Arcie Pointer of Lancaster, CA, Helen Campbell of Levelland, TX and Adelle Smith and husband, Harvin, of Lubbock, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
Special gratitude is extended to the staff of Northern Oaks Living and Rehabilitation Center.
