As President he helped create a new Civil Code for his country in 1902 and signed a diplomatic treaty with Bolivia in 1904. During the Meat Revolt of 1905, protesters stormed the Presidential Palace because of inflation; some 250 were killed. Errazuriz left office the following year. (bio by: K)
